Constantia Wine Valley

Half or Full Day Tour

It’s only a 20 minute drive from central Cape Town to the start of the Constantia Wine Valley, the cradle of South Africa’s wine industry, dating back to the 1680’s.

Nestled behind Table Mountain, this idyllic valley merges with upscale residential areas. Constantia remains South Africa’s smallest wine region, where every winery produces world class wine. Several of the country’s top restaurants are found here too, offering magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and vineyards.

Half Day Tour

A half day tour can take in visits to about three different wineries. Compared to Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, the focus is more on white (especially sauvignon blanc and chardonnay) than red wines, but the reds that are produced are elegant and of high quality. Between them all there is enough variety to make it interesting, no matter what your taste, unless you prefer to focus exclusively on big, bold reds

Full Day Tour

Extending from a HALF DAY to a FULL DAY tour, you can fit in a leisurely lunch, and depending how many wineries you would like to visit, you could also combine it with a visit to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden just a short drive away.

Lunch options range from casual al fresco fare and cheese and or / charcuterie platters, to top fine dining establishments. Please note that the most popular ones can be booked up for several months, especially in summer, but if you are flexible, you won’t have a problem finding space at the last minute.

Enjoying lunch here while on tour makes more sense than travelling from central Cape Town for dinner, and it’s a shame to miss out on the views once the sun goes down!
