Winelands Meander

Full Day Tour

If there was ever an outing perfect for having a dedicated non-drinking driver-guide, this is the one!

Explore the Winelands, focusing on the Stellenbosch and/or Franschhoek regions.

For convenience and time efficiency, if our focus is on the best wine, we tend to focus on the Stellenbosch region.

But there is a lot more to it than just wine …

About the Area

Stellenbosch is a charming, attractive and bustling 340 year old country town just 45 minutes from Cape Town, with a lively energy thanks to its 25 000 university students. Franschhoek has more of a village feel. Both are walkable and have excellent shopping opportunities.

Wineries

The landscape is dominated by huge mountains and punctuated by beautiful homesteads in the signature Cape Dutch architectural style.

Wineries range from large commercial operations to boutique wineries and hidden gems in valleys off the beaten track, and are complemented by a staggering variety of outstanding restaurants from which we can choose one for lunch based on your preference: light and casual, more elegant, or a gastronomic experience (which can still be very informal in atmosphere).

Idyllic Countryside

Traveling between the towns takes us over spectacular mountain passes and through idyllic countryside.

If your main goal is to maximise opportunities for visiting wineries and tasting and/or purchasing good wine, we can usually fit in four wineries, if we move at a reasonable pace. If you would like to have time to stroll in either of the towns, do some shopping, or visit other attractions, we will more likely fit in two or three. It is entirely up to you how much you would like to focus on wineries vs other places of interest.

So, whether you are serious wine connoisseurs or a family looking for a fun day out, there’s something for everyone!

We can decide which wineries to visit, depending on your interest and taste in wine, and / or which other attractions to visit, based on your other interests such as scenery, walking or hiking, history, heritage, architecture, gardens, art, conservation (Cheetah Outreach http://www.cheetah.co.za and Eagle Encounters http://www.eagle-encounters.co.za ) or shopping. The state-of-the-art Franschhoek Motor Museum http://www.fmm.co.za is something special for car lovers.
